Warwick Castle is set for its 'biggest year of extraordinary events' as the town has been named as one of the top 10 destinations in the UK for a family staycation.

The Family Staycation Index was launched by comparethemarket.com and features the top 10 places in the UK to visit.

Warwick was placed 10th in the table.

And in 2022 the castle is set to host a range of events with 'something for everyone'.

Returning favourites include the Dragon Slayer outdoor evening theatrical production, War of the Roses LIVE!, The Falconer's Quest bird of prey show and the Sundown Spectacular festival.

Inspired by the children's book Zog, the castle has also just opened the world's first Zog Playland, an immersive and accessible playground featuring exciting zip wires, crawl tunnels, slides and more.

Warwick has been named as the 10th best staycation destination in the UK

Guests at the Castle's Knight's Village can enjoy exclusive entertainment including battling knights, archery lessons and princess schools during the summer peak season.

And glamping will be available from May in the castle grounds.

"We are delighted, although not surprised, that Warwick is one of the top 10 locations for family staycations in the UK," said Nick Blofeld, divisional director at Warwick Castle.

"Warwick is a superb destination for people of all ages and at the castle we are thrilled to be a big part of the reason why people love visiting this area.

"This year we will be hosting our most exciting season of events yet and with our new Zog Playland there has never been a better time to spend the 'knight' at our historic castle."
