An award-winning Warwick chip shop will start delivering for the first time this weekend as the next step in expansion plans.

The Chip Shed, which moved to Swan Street last August, will now be delivering across Warwick and Leamington Spa on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

Having first opened on West Street more than five years ago, the business has grown quickly, moving to bigger premises and opening two new shops - one in Minchinhampton and the second in Bourton-on-the-Water.

And with another set to open in Stratford later this year, co-owner Dan Chuter said now was the perfect time to start offering deliveries.

"There were two reasons for it really," he explained.

"Firstly we have had a lot of interest in deliveries, a lot of people have been asking for us to do it on a regular basis, so that showed us that there was a clear interest.

"And secondly our capacity has increased considerably since we moved to the new location. It would never have been possible in the old shop, but it is now.

"So we thought the timing was right and we wanted to give our award-winning chips out beyond our immediate neighbours."

The deliveries, which could be rolled out further depending on demand, can now be booked via the shop's website.

The Chip Shed's Swan Street premises were officially opened by Mayor of Warwick Cllr Richard Erdington and local MP Matt Western last summer.

The shop now offers space for more than 70 diners at a time, and Dan said moving site had been a huge success for the business.

"Everything in there is brand new, and we designed it how we wanted, for what we wanted.

"At the old site we bought an existing shop that had been shoehorned in, and practically it was not serving the purpose," he said.

"Now we have such a big space which we have expanded into."

And with the shop "excited to get going" with the deliveries this weekend, he was also quick to thank the support of their loyal customers.

"We really have a soft spot for Warwick, there is no question," he added.

"The people there, as well as those from Leamington Spa, have been incredibly supportive.

"They have been great for our business, they are loyal and I just hope we continue to give things back with our service, our food and obviously now our deliveries.

"We always keep listening to our customers and trying to deliver excellence in everything that we do, from the service to the food."

Delivery slots can be booked here.
