Avian influenza cases confirmed at Napton on the Hill

Cases of avian influenza have been confirmed in captive birds at a premises near Napton on the Hill in Warwickshire.

Warwickshire County Council confirmed that a 3km captive bird monitoring zones has been placed around the premises.

The zone means all poultry and birds must be kept housed and a record must be kept of all poultry or poultry eggs that enter or leave the premises, except eggs that are being moved direct to retail premises to be sold.

WCC has not said what species of birds have been infected, nor how many.

The council is urging anyone who keeps unregistered birds in the area to come forward and have them registered.
