Firefighters were yesterday (March 17) called to help rescue the driver of a supermarket delivery lorry stuck in a South Warwickshire ford.

Crews from Wellesbourne Fire Station were called to the flooded Fulready Ford at around 9am where the Asda lorry was stuck.

The driver was safely extracted from the vehicle.

But footage circulated on social media showed the van stuck in the ford later on in the day, with the gauge showing at least three feet of water across the road.

Images show the level of the water well above the bonnet and wheel arches - with the vehicle actually moved to the side of the ford, rather than still in the middle of the road.

Firefighters said: "Please remember to observe and take note of depth gauges when crossing fords."

The incident near Ildicote is one of a number of calls out for Warwickshire firefighters during the past few weeks of wet weather.

And over the weekend, Wellesbourne crews were also called to help a vehicle which had become stranded below the old railway bridge on Walton Road, Wellesbourne.

Crews made use of our rescue sled to bring the occupants out safely, before being assessed by Ambulance crews.

Asda has been approached for comment.
