An American veterinary diagnostics company is eyeing an expansion into England with plans to open a "landmark" laboratory at Tachbrook Park.

Antech Diagnostics LTD has applied for planning permission to turn an empty industrial warehouse into a veterinary laboratory, employing 54 people.

The company handles testing for vets and develops diagnostic solutions to help animal welfare and care.

Now it wants to cross the Atlantic and turn the Titan Business Centre, on Spartan Close, into its first independent laboratory in the United Kingdom.

A planning application has been submitted to Warwick District Council for a change of use for the building, as well as a new entrance and extended mezzanine floor.

"Antech is a US company establishing itself within the UK, and the facility at Warwick is seen to be a landmark development that once this is brought into use, will form a key location within their development within the UK," it says.

"Antech within the US are keen to promote and develop clean air environments and as such will look to work with the local authority best they can to ensure their ongoing development has no detrimental impact to the surrounding locations."

An external generator would also be built to make sure equipment has continued supply of power.

Plans also state that local trades and locally supplied materials will be used.

"The proposed development will primarily be used to facilitate laboratory diagnostic services for the veterinary industry," the application added.

"Antech Labs Ltd will employ approximately 54 members of part time staff at this development.

"These are predominantly new roles and will therefore bring additional employment to the area."
