Care home residents celebrate the Platinum Jubilee in style
Residents at Care UK's Priors House care home have been enjoying a Platinum Jubilee celebration fit for a queen.
The Old Milverton Lane home has marked the Queen's official 70-year milestone by inviting family and friends for a jubilee-themed garden party.
The home's garden was also decorated with Union Jack flags, bunting and balloons and everyone was treated to a tasty barbeque spread specially prepared for the occasion by the home's chef.
The care home also welcomed children from Myton School who chatted with residents about their memories of the royal family. The children also enjoyed sharing their artwork with everyone, which they had created to celebrate the jubilee.
Residents also made a short video compiling residents' favourite memories on the Queen and the royal family, including 92-year-old Eunice Shorthouse, who attended charity events with the Queen in her younger years.
She said: "She always had the mindset to put the needs and wellbeing of others before her own – it was truly remarkable and inspiring."
Francine Summers, Home Manager at Priors House, said: "We had a fantastic time welcoming pupils from Myton school for a right royal knees-up to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.
"It's been a busy 70 years for the royals, with big birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and new additions to the family – conversations about the Queen are never too far from our lips here at Priors House.
"Many residents remember her coronation too, so it was great to be able to share those memories and reminisce with the local community.
"We'd like to say a big thank you to those who joined us on the day and raised a glass to the Queen – we hope to welcome everyone again soon!"
