A Warwickshire roofing company is marking over four years in business after completing around 350 jobs across Warwick, Leamington and surrounding villages.

Browns The Roofing Company, which has a team of six, has deliberately chosen to keep its work within the local area rather than expanding.

The team shared this decision has allowed the company to remain responsive to homeowners, with the team able to carry out surveys quickly and attend emergency repairs when needed.

Founder, Michael Moore, further shared the importance of prioritising the local community to deliver quality over quantity.

"Staying local means we can be truly responsive. We live here, we shop here, our families are here and we want every person who uses us to feel looked after, not just another job on a list" he said.

For Michael, the business is also about continuing a family tradition.

His grandfather previously ran his own roofing business in Solihull, where he became known for his work and reputation before stopping trading in the 2000s.

As a child, Michael would accompany his grandfather on jobs, watching him work and learning about the trade.

But he says the lessons went beyond roofing itself, teaching him the importance of treating customers properly, being reliable and taking pride in the finished job.

Some of his grandfather's roofs can still be seen standing in Solihull and beyond, decades after they were completed.

Michael also shared his grandfather's approach to the trade was a major inspiration for starting Brown The Roofing Company.

"Starting Browns wasn't just about starting a business, it was about building something my grandfather would have been proud of," expressed Michael.

"I'm so proud of him, and every roof we lay is my way of keeping his way of doing things alive."

All of Brown's 350 jobs since the company began, have been carried out within Warwick, Leamington and nearby villages.

Brown's services include: new roofs, flat roofs fascias & soffits, guttering, chimney repairs, roof cleaning & coating and roof repairs.

Rather than building a large workforce, the business has opted to grow steadily, with the six-person team described as a "tight-knit local crew".

The company says this approach is particularly important in roofing, where demand can fluctuate seasonally, with winter often bringing an increase in emergency repairs as heavy rain exposes leaks and other problems.

Michael shared: "If you asked me what I'm proudest of, it wouldn't be the number of jobs or the size of the team. It's actually that people recommend us to their friends, their families, and their neighbours.

"When someone has had a good experience with us and they tell the person next door, or their mum, or their mate down the road and that's better than any advert. It means we've earned their trust, and that's something you can't put a price on."

Browns has also recently taken on work at several listed buildings in Warwick.

The company says working on historic properties has been a particular highlight, given the additional care that is required when dealing with buildings that form part of the town's heritage.

"These aren't just roofs, they're pieces of our local history," Michael shared.

"To be the ones they chose to look after those buildings is a privilege."

As autumn and winter approach, the company expects demand for roof repairs to increase as wet weather highlights existing damage, leaks and damp problems.

The team shared that remaining close to its customer base means it can respond quickly when homeowners need help.

Michael said: "We've chosen to stay local because that's where we feel we can do our best work.

"For us, it's about looking after the community we're part of, rather than trying to become the biggest company around."
