Job Advert: Lead Estimator
Location: Warwick (Hybrid working 2 days a week in Warwick office Mon & Tues) Contract length: 6-Months (Potential to Extend) Pay Rate: 500 per day via Umbrella (inside IR35) Are you an experienced estimator looking to make an impact in the utilities and energy sector? Our client, a leader in securing Britain's energy supply, is seeking a dynamic Lead Estimator for a Fixed Term Contract of 6 months. What You'll Do:As a Lead Estimator, you will play a vital role in developing precise cost estimates, collaborating with project teams, and engaging with stakeholders. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring our projects are delivered on time and within budget.Key Responsibilities- Develop detailed, analytical cost estimates from first principles.
- Work with project teams to define scopes and identify missing data.
- Lead meetings with internal and external stakeholders to gather data and resolve estimation concerns.
- Participate in risk workshops and build contingencies into estimates.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings (P&IDs, GA drawings, schematics).
- Continuously refine estimation processes for better accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure estimates are well-documented with clear assumptions and governance signoffs.
- Support cost management and reporting processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering and commercial teams.
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
- Proven track record in cost estimation, ideally in utilities, gas construction, or energy.
- Strong analytical and technical drawing interpretation skills.
- Understanding of project management and lifecycle.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
- Proficiency in cost modelling and estimation tools.
- Experience in construction or utilities is highly desirable.
- Professional accreditation (e.g., ACostE, ICES, RICS, or similar).
- Familiarity with NEC contracts or project management frameworks.
- Experience working in regulated environments.
- Ability to work independently and hit the ground running.
