We are heading up a recruitment drive for a global consultancy that require an SC Cleared VMWARE SMEto join them on a major government project that's based in Warwick.

Role Description: Candidates applying for this role must demonstrate exceptional VMWare hands on experience. Subject Matter Expert - VMware & HPE Infrastructure A split of office-based with remote working permitted. Occasional on-site work at data centre locations may be required depending on project needs. Duration: 3 months initially - potentially consider part time to suit during design validation, QA and PoC but likely full time during build and test phases. Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the delivery of critical infrastructure within a high-availability data centre environment. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in VMware technologies, particularly VMware vMotion, and hands-on experience with HPE compute and storage infrastructure. This role is pivotal to ensuring the successful deployment and stability of hypervisor-level infrastructure supporting mission-critical workloads. The role will be based in an office environment with flexibility for remote working, and may involve occasional travel to data centre sites as required. Key Responsibilities: Lead and support the build and configuration of large-scale VMware environments, including vMotion setup and optimization. Provide hands-on technical expertise in HPE compute and storage platforms, including installation, configuration, and performance tuning. Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to ensure infrastructure designs meet operational and business requirements. Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues in Real Time within a critical data centre setting. Document infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures to support operational handover and knowledge transfer. Participate in technical workshops and provide SME-level input into infrastructure strategy and planning. Required Skills & Experience: Proven experience in deploying and managing VMware environments at scale, including vMotion, vSphere, ESXi, and related components. Strong hands-on experience with HPE infrastructure (eg, ProLiant Servers, Nimble/3PAR/Alletra storage). Deep understanding of data centre operations, high-availability systems, and infrastructure resilience. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-pressure environments. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Qualifications: VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent. HPE certifications or demonstrable experience with HPE infrastructure. Experience in infrastructure automation and Scripting (eg, PowerCLI, Ansible). Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management frameworks.
