Azure Solution Architect

Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires Azure Solution Architect to be based at their client's office in Warwick, UK.

This is a hybrid role - you can work remotely in the UK and attend the Warwick office 3 days per week .

This is a 6+ month temporary contract to start ASAP

Our client is seeking a skilled Solution Architect with deep expertise in Azure Solution Architecture to lead and support the design, development, and optimization of a cloud-based web application hosted on Azure. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Azure PaaS services, cloud integration patterns, security controls, and cloud-native architecture best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end solution architecture for a web application hosted on Azure, ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements.
• Design scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud-based applications using Azure services such as Azure Front Door, API Management (APIM), Azure Gateway, Azure Spring Boot, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure PostgreSQL.
• Define and document conceptual, logical, and physical architecture while ensuring compliance with enterprise architecture standards.
• Design and implement file-based and API-based integration patterns, ensuring seamless connectivity between different systems.
• Guide development teams on best practices for Azure API Management, Azure Functions, and Azure Logic Apps for building robust integration solutions.
• Conduct design reviews and collaborate with the Design Authority to ensure compliance with cloud architecture principles.
• Ensure cloud cybersecurity controls using tools such as Azure Defender, Qualys vulnerability scans (containers, endpoints, networks), and other security solutions.
• Define and enforce baseline security requirements to ensure compliance with industry security standards and regulations.
• Define and validate Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) such as scalability, availability, resilience, observability, and compliance.
• Ensure the solution meets performance, security, and compliance standards while optimizing for cost efficiency and reliability.

Key Requirements

Essential Skills:

• Strong understanding of cloud automation, infrastructure as code (IaC), and DevSecOps best practices.
• 10+ years of experience in solution architecture, with expertise in Azure cloud services.

Desirable Skills:

• Strong experience with Azure networking and security services (eg, Azure Front Door, APIM, Gateway, Azure Defender, Qualys, etc.).
• Expertise in integration patterns, API-based architectures, and cloud security best practices.
• Experience in designing, reviewing, and validating Azure/GCP cloud architecture.
• Knowledge of Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) and ability to define baseline security controls.
• knowledge of cloud cybersecurity frameworks, vulnerability management, and compliance standards.
• Prior experience working past Design Authority reviews and ensuring compliance with enterprise architecture standards.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Azure Solution Architect Certification
