An Evening of Ghost Stories - Behind the Door Productions

Join Behind the Door Productions for 'An Evening of 'Ghost Stories' at the St John's House for stories from Charles Dickens and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

"…this horror was bounding like a tiger at his heels, with blazing eyes and one stringy arm out thrown."

ACT 1: In Charles Dickens' classic ghost story, 'The Signalman', we follow a railway signalman who keeps watch over a damp, and gloomy railway cutting. Upon questioning, he reveals that he has been haunted by spectral warnings of impending train disasters.

ACT 2: In Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 'Lot No. 249', we follow Abercrombie Smith, a student who investigates a series of supernatural occurrences linked to his neighbour, Edward Bellingham. Edward, an Oxford student, holds possession of an ancient Egyptian mummy which he appears to have been using to stalk his enemies.

This is a candlelit performance taking place at St John's House and will begin at 7pm on 28th and 29th October.

In this one-man performance, Toby Burchell performs two chilling tales by the finest writers of the ghost story genre. Originally narrated as entertainments for friends, these are the perfect traditional ghost stories.

Performance will last approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes with a 20 minutes interval included.

The ground floor will be dressed for Halloween so take a look around if you dare. Doors open at 6.30pm.

This performance takes place on the first floor. There is no disabled access.

The bar is open before and during the interval.

Tickets are £18 plus a booking fee. Suitable for adults and children 12 years and over.
