REVIEW: Kuppso - the new coffee app supporting indies in South Warwickshire

Locals in Warwick and Leamington Spa may have seen a sign saying 'Kuppso' in the windows at some of their favourite independent cafes over the past few months.
The app, launched last November, is aiming to "revolutionise" the way people enjoy their coffee.
Available to use at a selection of local indies, the app gives subscribers the chance to grab a coffee for a fraction of the normal price.
Run by friends Rob Oakley and Alex Baker, from Leamington, Kuppso wants to encourage locals to support local and build a "thriving coffee community".

Having downloaded the app, it was easy to get set up on Kuppso. The easy-to-navigate app makes it very simple to register and to set up your first subscription.
Users have the option to either set up a monthly subscription, or buy a 'coffee pack'.
With the subscription, users can select between four and 30 drinks per month, working out at £2.50 a drink. With the coffee packs - which can be used over a longer period of time - there is the choice of four to 12, working out at £2.75.
With the subscription sorted it then took just a couple of days for my free reusable cup to arrive in the post.

I particularly like the fact the lid is screwed rather than clipped on - less chance of a spillage! And the cover for the drinking hole clips out of place nicely too.
Once hand washed (it cannot go in the dishwasher) the cup was ready for its first outing and I headed to Spoon & Whisk in Warwick for its first run out.
As well as a list of the various vendors on offer, the app also has a map function allowing you to find the nearest partner. The app also allows you to browse their menu, see the opening times, promotions and even the type of milk on offer.
On ordering my drink I simply presented the barcode with the app, it was scanned and it was as simple as that!

While you cannot order on the app, the process was simple, efficient. Had I ordered anything to eat, this would just have been a separate simple transaction.
Having now used the app at a number of local vendors, I have really enjoyed the experience, the value for money and actually being prompted to venture to a couple of spots that I had not been to before - simply because they are partnered with Kuppso.
I suppose that's proof that it works in its mission to get users to support local!
The only issue I have had in the experience was when trying to order two coffees at once in the centre of Warwick, and the internet connection not allowing the app to refresh. But I think that is more about the connection in the town centre than Kuppso itself!

I have also spoken to a couple of the local cafe proprietors using the app who said they have had lots of new customers coming in using the app, and said it has been hassle free from their perspective.
From the point of view of the consumer, I have no complaints! Aside from the obvious bonus of getting your coffee slightly cheaper, it is nice to have an extra push to support local rather than going to a chain, and with the app so easy to use, there is little reason not to use it!
Kuppso is also set to branch out in South Warwickshire beyond Warwick and Leamington meaning it will be even more attractive to cafe goers.
For me personally, I prefer the flexibility of the drinks packs, rather than the monthly subscription, but for those working in town or having a daily coffee, the latter would definitely be the better option.
