A teenage boxer who trains at a Leamington gym recorded an impressive victory at the weekend to add to her growing reputation.

Jaya Kalsi, who represents Clearys boxing gym, which is based on Wise Terrace, claimed a unanimous victory against the previously unbeaten Summer Evans.

Fighting in the Boxing Clever Academy ABC show in Nuneaton, Jaya, who has already fought for England, was totally dominant as she swept to victory against her opponent from the Prize Fighter gym in Wales.

Of her victory, Jaya said: "It meant a lot to me winning in Nuneaton, especially against an unbeaten boxer and in front of such a large audience. Other than doing my school work, I've been training really hard at Clearys boxing gym and with England boxing and I'm really looking forward to my next bout…"

This next bout is set to take place in a couple of weeks when Clearys puts on a night of boxing at the Trident College in Warwick on Saturday 17 December. It will feature some of Clearys' boxers competing against fighters from around the UK.

Along with Jaya, some of the boxers competing from the gym include super heavyweight Midlands champion Joe Bourne, champion Aman Kumar, and Midlands champion Reni Bulyka. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets for the event should call 07581506820 or 07723389774.

The event's promoter, Adrian Bush said: "Start Christmas with a bang and support your local Amateur boxers some of the best in the country who are all boxing on a full bill at Trident College.

"Big Joe Bourne will top the bill against the under 10 novice champion from Anthony Joshua's gym Finchley London.

"Plus meet special guest for the night gold heavyweight Commonwealth champion Lewis Williams and grab a photo with him."
