'Writing's on the wall' for Reform in Warwickshire say Lib Dems

"The writing is on the wall" for Reform UK at Warwickshire County Council, opposition councillors have claimed.

The Liberal Democrat group said Reform's "honeymoon period" at Shire Hall is now over following key votes in December.

Led by Cllr George Finch, Reform saw a setback with a vote on home to school travel going against them. The group's community safety plan has also been delayed.

Lib Dems have also pointed to the increase in complaints against councillors which mainly points to Reform members.

"As even more sign of Reform's chaos and irresponsibility, it's become clear how Reform councillors are failing in their job to sort out one of the county's biggest infrastructure projects," a group statement said.

"In December three opportunities for a site visit were arranged for all councillors to go to the massively over budget and long-delayed £57 million A46 Bridge To Nowhere project.

"But not one of the 22 Reform councillors bothered to turn up to any of these visits."

Local Lib Dem leader Cllr Jerry Roodhouse added: "If Reform ever had a honeymoon in Warwickshire, it's well and truly over.

"As we enter the season for setting the 2026/27 county council budget, the writing's on the wall for Reform."

Despite Lib Dem criticism of Reform, a poll shared last year suggested the group could take a near clean-sweep at the next general election.

December also saw cross-party support for a motion aimed at tackling the rising crisis of child poverty and neglect in Warwickshire and the rest of the country.

Cllr Finch has also told rival councillors his administration is "already" in the process of securing "big investors" to revitalise town centres.

I'm being asked to support local journalism and protect the community, and yet since my vote for REFORM UK was made in the elections all I've seen is a committed campaign against the chosen party for the county...a coordinated campaign.
I'll withhold any contribution until I catch a hint of fairness.
