Warwickshire County Council has issued a warning regarding scam text messages.

It reminded individuals that WCC does "NOT" issue text messages concerning the payment of Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs).

"Penalty notices are issued by being placed on your vehicle's windscreen, or sent by post if this isn't possible."

Authentic penalty charge notices from Warwickshire County Council will start with ZQ.

Individuals can make payments securely online using this website or by post or telephone with the full details printed on the notice.

WCC said: "Never click on links in unsolicited messages.

"If in doubt, contact the organisation directly.

"You can also report suspicious messages to your mobile provider."
