Warwick Words History Festival will return to venues across the town this October.

After marking its 20th anniversary last autumn, the popular annual event will return from October 2 to October 8.

The literature and spoken word event will get underway with the Festival Service at St Mary's Church on October 1.

While most of the events will take part during the main festival week, the Tea Time Talks will run until November 25.

Castle Hill Baptist Church is once again the main venue for the festival, with the likes of Tracy Borman, James Holland and Alison Weir all coming to town.

Organisers said: "We announced last year that Warwick Words had been chosen by Warwick District Council as one of its four creative partners.

"We are pleased to have been working with the council to deliver our creative goals and are grateful for their continuing support."

Warwick Words started life in October 2002 as the Warwick Literary Weekend before expanding from a weekend to a week.

From 2016 it became specifically a history festival.

Guests will also be able to enjoy the Warwick Words Family History Walking Trail from October 2 to October 29 to see some of the town's fascinating historical connections.

Tickets for all events are now on sale either online, www.warwickwords.co.uk or by telephoning the Box Office 01926 33 44 18, or in person at Leamington Spa and Warwick Visitor Information Centres.
