Warwick Rotarians continue support for local charity aiding Ukraine
By Nadia Sayed 20th Mar 2026
Warwick Rotarians have support a local charity which delivers and facilitates aid in Ukraine.
The club has supported Belveder CIC, based in Leamington Spa at the Polish centre since the very start of the war in Ukraine in 2022,
Now, it has made another substantial donation to help purchase a 4x4 vehicle for use in Ukraine.
Rotarians first learned about Belveder's fundraising for ambulances and the delivery of medical aid to the Polish border with Ukraine, and quickly responded by funding a generator needed at an orphanage run by the Sisters of St Joseph, close to the Ukrainian border, where many people were fleeing to safety.
This was followed by support for a battery converter, allowing the Sisters to store electricity when power was available and use it later for essential tasks such as washing and cooking.

Each Easter, chocolate eggs are sent to the Sisters, along with Christmas gifts later in the year, so that the children know they are not forgotten.
Last summer, Warwick Rotary also contributed towards a summer camp in Poland, giving Ukrainian children a short period of respite from the effects of war.
More recently, Rotarians gathered for an evening at Folklore House, a Polish restaurant in Leamington Spa, where they were joined by Dawid Kozlowski from Belveder.
Dawid updated members on the scale of the work now being carried out, explaining that Belveder has sent more than 60 ambulances and specialist vehicles to Ukraine, delivered by dedicated volunteers including Matt Western MP, members of the Sikh community, Kenilworth Lions, and many others.

Since the Russian invasion began, Belveder has also regularly organised trucks of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Warwick Rotary has additionally supported the delivery of medical aid through North Cotswold Rotary Club.
During the evening, Dawid showed video footage of soldiers being rescued from trenches on the front line, as well as images of some of the ambulances that have already been destroyed.
With extensive drone surveillance now making ordinary ambulance movements increasingly dangerous, 4x4 vehicles are often needed to get closer to the wounded.
