A pub in the centre of Warwick has won its battle to keep its outside seating.

The Rose & Crown had initially been refused permission for a new pavement licence, but has now given the green light to keep the tables to the front of the pub for the next 12 months.

Warwick District Council has allowed the Market Place pub to keep its seven tables and 25 chairs for the next 12 months.

Plans show these can be used from 8am to 11pm, seven days per week.

New laws on pavement licences were brought into effect in the summer of 2020 to make it easier for businesses to apply for permission to put furniture outside during the pandemic.

The news comes just weeks after The Thomas Lloyd on the other side of the square was granted permission to keep its 27 external tables and 108 chairs.
