Warwick MP's Column: Cost of living, trophy hunting and awards return

The temperatures have really dropped this past week as we move firmly into winter.
The next few months will be challenging for so many families across Warwick, Leamington, Whitnash and our villages – we're facing a worsening cost-of-living crisis and have a government that many people think are completely disconnected from the issues real people are facing.
I want to remind all constituents that my office and I are here as a resource to help.
If you have any concerns about your wellbeing over the winter or have any issues you'd like to raise with me, please do not hesitate to get in touch at [email protected]. Earlier this year, I produced a cost-of-living support booklet to signpost help available both nationally and locally.
An online version is available on my website or if you would like a physical copy, please drop me an email.
Last week, I attended a reception organised by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Banning Trophy Hunting, who are doing incredibly important work on securing a properly enforced ban on all trophy hunting imports and working for Britain to be a global leader in helping to end trophy hunting.
Killing majestic, endangered animals living in the wild across Africa and other continents simply for their pleasure is sickening.
Away from Westminster, it's been a busy few weeks in the community.
On Thursday I had the chance to attend the Warwick Victorian Evening which is a highlight of the calendar every year and a great advert for our historic town.
Elsewhere, I attended the Christmas Fayre at the Chase Meadow Community Centre which was as always, a brilliant event with fantastic community spirit. Thank you to everyone involved.
Earlier in the week, I visited Ricardo on the Southam Road. Ricardo is an important automotive business that provides equipment to big names like Aston Martin.
We should be really proud to have them on our doorstep.
Finally, I'm pleased to announce that my MP Awards is now in its third year and is returning on 16 February.
It has been brilliant to have the chance to recognise those working in public sector or as volunteers in our community, who do so much but often don't get the recognition they deserve, and I'm delighted to have the chance to do so again.
Nominations for our local heroes are now open so please do have a think of anyone who you feel deserves to be nominated for an award.
It's not just individuals who can be nominated - there is a category for organisations and businesses that do special work in our community. Nominations can be made here.
I know there is no lack of incredible people across Warwick, Leamington, Whitnash and villages so look forward to recognising their efforts at my awards next February.
