Warwick headteacher resigns after a decade at the school
By Nadia Sayed 2nd Feb 2026
A Warwick headteacher has formally resigned after being at the school for ten years.
Chair of Governors, Mr Mike Oldridge confirmed, in a letter to parents and carers, that Headteacher Mr Andy Perry, will not be returning to Myton School.
In the letter, Mr Oldridge began by expressing sincere thanks to Mr Perry for his commitment to Myton School during his time as Headteacher, stating: "He has played a significant role in supporting the school community and contributing to its ongoing development. We are grateful for his service and extend our best wishes for the future."
A formal statement from Mr Perry read: "Over the last few months, I have made a point of spending more time with my family and more time reflecting on our future. For a whole number of reasons, this has led me to the conclusion that I need to realign my priorities in life. It is therefore, with a very heavy heart, I have decided to resign from my position of Headteacher of Myton School.
"Serving as the Head of Myton for this past decade has been the honour of a lifetime. At Myton I have met the most inspirational staff, leaders and Governors, I have met the most incredible students, and I have worked with a local community of the most dedicated and supportive parents and carers. Myton is a community I have grown to love dearly and will miss. It is this community which has ensured Myton has continued to grow and improve and it is the Myton community which has ensured we can overcome the challenges we have faced over recent years.
"There is no such thing as a typical day at Myton and there have certainly been days that are frustrating and worrying. However, a day at Myton will always be inspirational if spent around the school, with the students and with the staff. It will always be exciting as a school full of young people with their lives ahead of them buzzes with potential and possibilities, and a day at Myton will always be entertaining. I don't think a day has gone by which hasn't made me laugh in one way or another, something I have always tried to relay through newsletters.
"I am proud that Myton is going to be rebuilt into a beautiful new school and I am proud that Myton is now part of a local Multi-Academy Trust built on values we all share. Myton will continue to grow and develop in its new buildings and at the heart of Stowe Valley and I wish my successor the very best. I will enjoy watching from afar as Myton is rebuilt and continues its success.
Finally, I would like to thank every single member of staff, every single Governor, every student, parent and carer and every member of the local community. You have all made the last 10 years as Head of Myton unforgettable, a joy and a source of great pride that I will never forget."
Mr Oldridge reassured parents and staff that the leadership of Myton school remains "strong, stable, and fully focused on the wellbeing and success of our pupils."
The two Deputy Headteachers, Mrs Curtis and Mr Phipps, will continue to lead the school each day with the care, consistency, and commitment that our pupils, staff, and families know so well.
After half term the school aims to have in place an internally appointed interim Headteacher to guide the school until September 2026.
Taking this approach will enable time to carry out a full national recruitment campaign over the Spring and Summer to find a new permanent Headteacher.
Mr Oldridge concluded: "Please be assured that our priority throughout this period is to maintain a nurturing, calm, and consistent environment for your children. We remain deeply grateful for your continued support, partnership, and trust in Myton School."
