Georgian coin worth estimated £14k to be auctioned in Warwick this month
A Georgian era coin worth an estimated £14,000 will be auctioned in Warwick later this month.
The crown, which dates back to 1826, will be sold during Warwick & Warwick's coins, medals and banknotes auction on June 22.
The coin shows the likeness of King George IV - given he only ruled for a decade the production of the coin was short-lived.
This and the high quality of this particular coin mean it is expected to fetch a high price later this month.
The Millers Road auctioneers, which was founded in 1958, holds six such auctions every year - amongst others.
Also in the catalogue is a set of four FDC (exceptionally high quality) British coins dating to 1937.
The set, which includes cased £5, £2, sovereign and half sovereign coins, has a guide price of £11,000.
The June auction includes 641 lots in total and will feature coins and banknotes both from the UK and the rest of the world.
From further afield is a five shilling note dated January 12 1901.
The note, produced by the Government of the Falkland Islands, is expected to fetch £12,000 when it goes under the hammer.
But the auction will not just be selling coins and military medals.
Also amongst the lots are a number of pieces of military memorabilia - including guns, helmets and even swords.
Most notably a 19th centre Tower Brown Bess flintlock rifle is up for sale.
The gun still has a fully working trigger mechanism and needs no owners licence. It has a guide price of £600.
If you are interested in placing a bid, the auction is held completely online via EasyLive.
Customers can view items at the Warwick premises on selected viewing dates.
