A Warwick bungalow of "little architectural merit" could be demolished and replaced with two houses if plans are signed off by the district council.

Harrison Projects Ltd has applied for planning permission to demolish the home known as Willowcroft, on Stratford Road.

The bungalow, next to Aylesford School, would be replaced with two, four-bedroom homes.

"The proposal looks to enhance the built environment of Stratford Road and utilise the underdeveloped site whilst considering the constraints of the footprint, ridge height, massing and overall design," the application to Warwick District Council said.

It added: "The existing bungalow is of little architectural merit and sits upon a very large piece of land.

"It is therefore proposed that the property should be demolished and replaced with two high quality four-bedroom family houses, together with associated parking and landscaping.

"Four-bedroom family houses are in great demand in Warwick."

A neighbour on Stratford Road, and the Playbox Theatre next door have both submitted notes to the council saying they have no reason to object, but have asked for clarification on the location of an air source heat pump.

The application continued: "The redevelopment of No. 144 Stratford Road to create two new family houses will improve the street scene of Stratford Road.

"It is hoped this small development will be considered an asset to Warwick, in its own small way."
