A village hall could be turned into offices if plans are signed off by the district council.

Sherbourne Park Estate has applied for a change of use for Sherbourne Village Hall, to make it commercial offices.

The 19th century building was used as a school until the 1940's, and has been used to host community events since 1962.

But a planning application submitted to Warwick District Council says the lease for the building has barely been used in the last year with the lease ending in September 2022.

"The premises being unoccupied and not maintained is unattractive to the local street scene," the application said.

The scheme would not see the outside of the building changed in any way.

The inside would be redecorated with repairs completed on the lighting and heating.

"The proposed development will ensure the building is occupied and maintained for the future," the application added.

"It will provide high quality office accommodation.

"We therefore conclude the impact on the character and appearance [of the] Conservation Area will be a neutral one and the application should be supported."
