Trains to London from Warwick are hoped to resume tomorrow (January 16) morning following two days of cancellations.

Services to the capital have been cancelled since Saturday following a landslide near Bicester.

Chiltern Railways told locals not to travel, while "urgent repairs" were completed, with all trains between Oxford and London Marylebone "unable to run".

A reduced service on the rest of the line from Bicester North and Birmingham Moor Street has been in operation.

But following the installation of 50 steel piles at the site of the landslip, Network Rail is hopeful services will resume on Tuesday.

The website currently says services are suspended until 8am tomorrow.

Richard Allan, managing director of Chiltern Railways, said: "We'd like to apologise to customers who are affected by the closure of the railway near Bicester for urgent repairs to the track following a landslip.

"We are asking customers not to travel on Sunday 14 and Monday 15 January while these significant repairs to the railway embankment take place.

"This decision was not taken lightly, but is essential while Network Rail repair this landslip on the Chiltern main line.

"I would urge customers to consider alternative methods of transport.

"Ticket acceptance will also be in place with numerous other train operators. I'd like to thank customers for their patience and understanding while Network Rail work at pace to reopen the railway."

Chiltern previously said customers with an advance ticket will be entitled to a full, fee-free refund or the opportunity to rebook their journey.

Check this page for details of ticket acceptance arrangements that are in place with other train / bus operators.
