The trebuchet at Warwick Castle is currently out of use due to a "mechanical fault".

"Siege machines are very complex and our team are working hard to bring the trebuchet back to action as soon as possible," a castle statement said.

"Meanwhile, a Trebuchet Talk will take place on the River Island where you’ll learn fascinating facts and the captivating history about our mighty siege machine at 10:45am and 2:15pm.

"We thank you for understanding and will share further updates."

The new siege engine was unveiled last spring following a £500,000 project to rebuild the castle's medieval siege weapon which was no longer in working order.

Built to 13th and 14th century original designs, the new 18-metre, 22-tonne machine is made from over 300 pieces of wood and is capable of launching projectiles up to 300 metres.
