Trains have returned to normal in Warwick following a week of strikes.

All services to the town were cancelled last week by Chiltern Railways as drivers took industrial action over pay and redundancies.

Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union walked out on Network Rail and 13 train companies on Tuesday 21 June, Thursday 23 and Saturday 25 of June.

The strikes had knock-on effects throughout the week, with normal service only resuming partway through Sunday.

With all services north of Banbury cancelled last week, the first Chiltern train left Birmingham Moor Street at 11.17am yesterday.

The industrial action also coincided with planned engineering work on the Chiltern mainline between Birmingham and Dorridge for the Commonwealth Games.

But trains have now returned to both Warwick Station and Warwick Parkway.
