A teenage boy had his jaw fractured as he was assaulted while walking through St Nicholas Park with his friend.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault which reportedly took place at around 5pm on Saturday 12 April.

Before the assault, which is thought to have been a case of mistaken identity, the suspect is understood to have shouted a boy's name.

The attacker – described as around 13 years old, white, approximately 5ft 6in tall – was described as wearing sunglasses and a dark coloured tracksuit.

He was understood to have been with another teenage boy and both left in the direction of Warwick Railway Station.

"Investigations are underway and we're keen to speak to any witnesses, anyone who was in the area at the time, or who has mobile phone footage of the incident," a Warwickshire Police statement said.

"Anyone with information should contact us quoting incident number 263 of 12 April."
