Helping clients achieve their goals, and working with them to make important decisions is one of the most rewarding parts of the job for a Kenilworth-based financial advice company.

That is according to Alex Sharp of GAM Home Loan Specialists, who works with customers in Warwickshire and beyond across a range of personal finance issues.

GAM was first launched around 20 years ago, when well-known local advisor Gary Sharp decided to leave his job at Cheltenham and Gloucester to offer a more personal service to his clients.

He was then joined by son Alex around a decade ago, and the family-run firm now advises clients on mortgages, pensions, life insurance, investments and more.

And that desire to put clients first, and work out what is best for them, is as strong as it was when the company was first launched.

"Working with mortgages and personal finance can be really rewarding," Alex told Nub News. 

"When people want to buy a house for example, they want assistance in working out what they can afford, and we are there to help. 

"Buying a house is a big deal, it's a big commitment, and people want to know they can trust your advice. 

"So it is nice dealing with mortgages and helping people achieve those goals, whether it be getting them into a new house or planning for their retirement."

GAM, which is run from Nason Grove, offers free advice for clients as well as evening and weekend meetings, to be as flexible as possible. 

Gary and Alex will even come to your home, to talk through your finances in more comfortable surroundings.

The company also has access to the whole of the market for mortgages, and brings decades of experience to assist customers across a whole range of issues.

And most of all, Alex explained, communication and being honest with clients is paramount to how GAM operates.

"Communication is key," he explained. 

"We get a lot of people who have read stuff online and they have heard they should do 'xyz', but we are there to help work out if it works for them.

"Often we are there to simply be able to answer every question a client can throw at us, so they have all the information they need to make the best decision for them. 

"Communication is something we spend a lot of time on, making sure we know exactly what our clients want, and they know exactly what they are getting from us. 

"Clients will hear from us regularly with updates, just so they know they are being looked after."
