A Warwick primary school is set to take a slice of a £100 million pot to install solar panels on its roof.
Woodloes Primary School is one of 250 schools, NHS and military sites across the country to benefit from Great British Energy’s solar rollout.
Energy Minister Michael Shanks said: "Great British Energy is helping schools to save money on bills, meaning more money for textbooks and technology.
"Across the country, solar panels are going up on rooftops to power classrooms with clean, homegrown power.
"This is our clean energy superpower mission in action, protecting our public services with lower bills and energy security."
A planning application has already been submitted for the Deansway school in Warwick.
If approved, the scheme would see PV panels with a capacity of 73.95 kWp installed.
"The proposal contributes to on-site renewable energy generation, supporting both environmental sustainability goals and energy efficiency objectives," the application to Warwick District Council said.
"It is fully in accordance with relevant local and national planning policies that promote the transition to low-carbon energy sources and encourage the integration of renewable technologies into existing developments.
"Furthermore, the proposal meets the criteria set out under the prior approval provisions for solar PV installations on non-domestic buildings and is therefore considered acceptable in principle, subject to compliance with the relevant limitations and conditions."
