Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service (WFRS) has offered an update after a major wildfire in the south of the county last night (August 13).

Multiple fire crews were called to the blaze at Tothall Lane, Salford Priors last on Thursday afternoon and stayed throughout the evening tackling the fire.

The A46 was closed in both directions for a while as smoke billowed across the busy road.

Residents were also told to keep their windows closed due to the smoke.

An update this morning from WFRS said the scene is under control, and the emergency service's presence was being scaled back.

It said: "We have scaled back our presence at the incident at Salford Priors. The fire is now under control and we have one remaining at the scene.

"During this period of prolonged hot weather we'd like to remind you to take extra care to reduce the risks of fires."
