Plans to launch a dog walking business at a local farm have been thwarted for a second time by district planners.

A previous application to turn a field at Squab Hall Farm in Bishops Tachbrook into a dog walking site was turned down by Warwick District Council (WDC) in September.

The council described the plans as "harmful" to the local area.

And now a second scheme - for a different piece of land at the Harbury Lane farm - has been thrown out.

The latest application, submitted by T.I. Evans & Son, would have seen a 2.85 hectare plot turned into a bookable space for local dog walkers to bring their pets.

Owners would have been able to secure either a 45 or 75 minute slot during daylight hours, seven days a week, with a maximum of six dogs allowed at a time.

"The dog walking field provides dog walkers and private households with an exclusive safe and secure recreational space to let their dog(s) off the lead without fear of poor recall, attacks on livestock or mixing with other dogs," the application said.

"It also provides a useful facility for those with mobility issues or young children, or for those who need to exercise their dogs safely without covering large distances, as well as being a safe space for any anxious dogs, service dogs or dogs with behavioural issues."

Plans stated there is a "clear need for such a facility within the local area" but this was pushed back by Bishops Tachbrook Parish Council which objected to the application, as it had with the previous scheme.

And district planners agreed, saying again that the 660 acre farm was not a viable spot for the business.

"The proposed development is situated in an unsustainable location," a council report refusing the application said.

"Furthermore, the development is not within a reasonable walking distance of public transport links, local facilities or amenities and would therefore create a car dominant form of development."
