When Revive Café and Bar opened sixth months ago it wanted to appeal to customers of all ages.

As it expands its offering with a new menu from chef Catalino Bernal, the Smith Street venue has achieved that goal.

The new food offering toes the line between fine dining and simple, affordable food.

And with a range of new bar snacks and a games room at the back, the cafe bar seems to offer something which cannot be found elsewhere in the town.

My partner and I were invited to a review on Wednesday night, not knowing quite what to expect.

But the evening was nothing but enjoyable.

For starters we both enjoyed the fennel and chilli crusted squid. The slight heat and pomegranate salsa added something different, so it wasn't your usual pub calamari.

New chef Cats Bernal has crafted the menu himself

When it came to mains I had the half rack of ribs which were cooked to perfection. Served with watermelon, a chilli and spring onion salad and Asian slaw it was clear that Bernal had put his own stamp on the classic dish.

My partner chose the risotto - one of a number of daily specials - and was not disappointed.

To drink we sampled some of the bar's cocktails and a pint of Lawless from local brewery Purity.

Whilst we didn't make the most of the games room (not my decision) it was busy, even on a dreary midweek night.

The cafe bar, which now hosts a number of regular events including stand up comedy nights, has clearly found its niche in the local market.

During the day, Revive is open for coffee and offers a daytime sandwich menu.

But in the evening it is equally appealing for both an enjoyable meal to kick start to the night, or is somewhere you could easily stay until close.

The cafe bar is equally appealing for both couples or larger groups - offering something for all needs.

And with the new menu and extended opening times, Revive looks set to become a regular haunt for many Warwick locals.
