Pupils told to stay at home as travellers park on school field

A Warwick school has told students to stay at home today (May 19) after travellers moved onto the school's playing field.

Myton School has closed for all pupils except for those sitting their exams.

Meanwhile remote work has been set for those staying at home.

A statement from the Myton Road school said: "We currently have travellers parked on the school site.

"As per the email/text sent by Mr Perry, school is only open today for those students sitting external exams.

"School is closed to all other students."

A message to parents said the school was working with police and security to have the travellers "removed as soon as possible".

Warwickshire Police said it was made aware of an unauthorised encampment on Myton Road shortly at around 8pm on yesterday (May 18).
