Public inquiry called for plans for new cycle lanes

A public inquiry is set to be held this year into plans for cycle paths between Warwick and Leamington.
The inquiry will be held on 18 November 2025 and will discuss the plans around Harbury Lane.
If approved, a new traffic order would designate an existing footpath as "shared use cycle track with a right of way for pedal cycles and on foot".
This would run from Earl Rivers Avenue to Tachbrook Road.

Lights would be installed along the route also.
The inquiry comes following a submission to the Secretary of State for Transport and will be held at Shire Hall.
Both arguments for and against can be presented at the inquiry.
The scheme forms part of a wider project to improve cycling connections along Harbury Lane.
Warwickshire County Council began construction in the area last year, including works to widen the paths in the area.
The local authority's website said: "Following the footpath creation agreement in July 2024 and Cycle Track Order consultations in October and November 2024 Warwickshire County Council has made (but not yet confirmed) an order under section 3 of the Cycle Tracks Act 1984, the effect of which will be to convert a footpath, into a shared use cycle track with a right of way for pedal cycles and on foot."
