A popular village pub in Warwickshire has been named among The Top 100 Restaurants for Outdoor Dining in 2024 by OpenTable.

The Fleur de Lys, in Lowsonford has been praised for being 'ideally situated for walkers and ramblers who wish to explore the canal towpath or a variety of local walks' and for its 'great homemade food and inviting atmosphere.'

Nestled in the picturesque village of Lowonsford, the pub sits on the banks of the Stratford Canal, between winding country roads that used to be part of the Forest of Arden, and boasts an acre of land, making it a popular stop-off for canal users.

The dog-friendly pub also has a four-star rating on Tripadvisor, 4.4-star rating on Google reviews and a 4.5 out of 5 on OpenTable.

Licensees Nick and Emma Woodhouse, who moved to Warwickshire from Bristol to take over at The Fleur, are passionate about hospitality and have combined 30 years of experience in the industry. They work hard to protect the legacy and integrity of the inn, which they recognise as a valued part of local history.

The menu is curated with hearty pub dishes, with the freshest and most local ingredients used by first-class butchers, fishmongers, and grocers. There is also a Sunday menu, Specials Board and - of course - a garden menu for those dining al-fresco.

The Fleur De Lys – which translates as Flower of Life - started out as a row of three 15th-century cottages which became canal workers' accommodation that were later knocked together. It wasn't until the early 20th century when it first opened as a tavern, later going on to introduce the 'pioneering' idea of serving food and giving rise to the now famous Fleur De Lys pies.

Later this month Emma and Nick are hosting a special weekend event to celebrate their 10th anniversary as custodians of the pub.

'Fleur Fest,' on June 29-30, promises a host of entertainment and activities throughout the weekend, from live musicians and performers – including stilt walkers and bubbleology - to craft and circus skills workshops, market and charity stalls and a dog show with prizes!

The event is also supporting Warwick charity Molly Ollys, and its founder Rachel Ollerenshaw will be on hand to raise awareness and sell raffle tickets across the two days.

It runs between 12-8pm. Tickets are £15 for adults (plus booking fee) and £7 for children (plus booking fee) Children under three go free. Free face painting is also included within the children's price. Available here.
