Part of a three-storey Warwick town centre shop could be turned into a residential flat if plans are approved.

An application to turn the second and part of the first floor of Present Days on Swan Street into a flat has been submitted to Warwick District Council.

If approved, the scheme would see the ground floor, cellar and part of the first floor remain as a retail space, while the upstairs stock rooms, office, kitchen and toilet area would be turned into a residential space.

Present Days opened in October 1977 originally selling cards and stationery.

The application says no jobs will be lost at the grade II listed premises and plans state that the change of use would not impact the 19th century timber shop front.

"The proposed works will not affect the heritage significance of the property and have a negligible impact on its architectural and historic merit and setting," the application says.

"The materials used for the project shall be sympathetic to the existing historic building and the design sensitively responds to the historic context of the area."

It added: "The community will not be losing a retail shop by this official 'mixed use' application to the property."

The application can be seen in full here.
