Over 100 people have objected to plans to build a drive thru Costa Coffee near Warwick Cemetery.
Warwick 27a Ltd has submitted a planning application for the new business on Haywood Road, saying the site is in a "sustainable location" and a suitable distance "from both the town centre and the highway".
Plans show the site would have 19 parking spaces, an external seating area as well as the drive thru lane.
The application also shows some 19 trees would need to be removed for the coffee shop to be built.
But locals have labelled the scheme "incongruous," "unnecessary" and in a "most unsuitable location".
William Taylor of Birmingham Road said: "This will be an invasion of our privacy, the building would be just yards from our house and on higher ground so that as vehicles queue in the drive-thru they would look directly into our windows.
"There would be noise, smell and disturbance all day and night and would attract vermin and litter. It would also have a huge impact on the traffic flow at this junction which is already barely coping."
Ben Jones added: "The additional traffic coming to the facility and turning in and out will increase traffic jams on the already busy Birmingham Road.
"It will present a nuisance to the residents on Haywood Road, Birmingham Road and Eastley Crescent.
"We do not need another coffee shop in this location."
And Rosemary Pope added: "I cannot understand why we need another Costa. Having a drive through will stop people going into Warwick where there are lots of coffee bars and shops that need to be supported."
Warwick Town Council has also objected to the application, raising concerns about traffic, noise levels and it being out of character with the neighbouring cemetery.
In its application to Warwick District Council, Warwick 27a argued: "It contributes to the local economy by offering a unique service in an urban area, whilst also providing local employment opportunities."
The application added: "The design strives to balance many factors of planning policy, site constraints, operator requirements and to bring a development in a sustainable way to this site.
"The design seeks secure and enhanced key aspects of ecology, sustainability, generating employment and accessibility.
"The need for retail frontage has been balanced within the site to maintain the open character on approach and provides screening and Landscaping to the urban frontage of the junction."
