A new Warwick music festival has been granted a music and alcohol licence despite the objection of a local resident.

Warwick Sessions has been given the green light for its event at St Nicholas Park from 2 July to July 6, as it prepares to bring a number of well known bands to town.

But the company had to speak at a Warwick District Council licensing meeting last week to get the licence, following the objection of one resident who complained about the noise from repeated events in the park.

"The park is completely surrounded by housing and all our residents are affected," the public speaker said at the meeting.

"I am mindful of the fact we are facing noise again, music which we hope is not going to be too loud."

They continued: "When it is loud - and I hope it won't be loud - it permeates my house and my garden, so I can't sit in my lovely garden which I do appreciate.

"I don't want to have the TV turned on because I can't listen to it, I don't want to be unable to talk on the phone because I can't hear and I don't want the music to be so intrusive that it drives us mad with the noise, getting on the nerves all day long.

"I hope that won't happen."

But AG Presents, which is running Warwick Sessions, argued it has run a number of successful events in the town previously and would be making sure the noise levels were kept at an acceptable level.

"AG Presents is an experienced promoter with a strong track record of delivering safe, well managed commercial events internationally and across the UK," they said at the meeting.

"We have previously held three events over the previous three years of similar nature in Warwick, that was working with the castle.

"While this is our first time in St Nicholas Park, we are very mindful of the location and the sensitivities."

They continued: "We believe comprehensive controls around noise show our commitments to being good applicants, therefore I would respectfully ask the panel to grant the licence."

The panel agreed to grant the licence, with conditions around the amount of noise imposed.

The Stranglers, Elbow and Train have already been announced as headlines for The Warwick Sessions 2025.
