The new owners of a Warwick gift shop which has been in the town for nearly half a decade have had an "amazing" first couple of weeks since taking over.

Couple Jenny Weston and Doug Thrower took over Present Days in Swan Street at the start of February, ensuring the 46-year-old business remains open.

After graduating in textiles and licensing designs for companies around the world, Jenny realised her dream of running her own shop nearly three years ago, when she took over at Paper Moon in Leicester.

And having helped grow that business - which had already been running for 16 years - she is looking forward to doing the same again in Warwick.

"We had already decided we wanted to expand and open a second shop and Present Days just ticked so many boxes," she told Nub News.

"Obviously it is near the castle, it has been there for 46 years, all the staff wanted to stay on and they know the business inside out.

"So it was an ideal situation for me that I could take on an amazing business."

Jenny had worked with the previous owners of Present Days - Gill and David - when she was selling her cards, so was already well acquainted with the business.

Then after hearing it was for sale, it took her just a matter of days to decide to take it on.

But she has reassured locals that while there may be some redecorating inside, and an expansion of the products on sale, it will still be the same shop customers have come to love.

"People in Warwick have told me Present Days is an institution in the town, and they are so happy it is staying," Jenny added.

"We are going to be keeping most of the brands, and adding in some new exciting ranges, particularly for the younger market like Joma Jewellery, Katie Loxton, Freckleface wax melts, and much more."

After just a fortnight in charge, she said the local reaction has been almost overwhelming.

"It has been amazing so far; I have shaken so many customer's hands!" Jenny added.

"People are thanking me for buying Present Days, just because the idea of it disappearing was so sad.

"People said they couldn't imagine Warwick without Present Days. It has been really heartwarming."
