A new Indian fusion restaurant has opened in the centre of Warwick, bringing a "passion for bold flavours" to the town.

Run by Aby Joseph, Joshi Johny, and Thomas P Mathew, Fusion Clan opened for the first time on Thursday 18 January, with a soft launch for friends and family.

Now open fully to the wider public, the trio are encouraging locals to head to the Smith Street eatery to try something unique, and to share in their culinary heritage - but with a twist.

"We have a dream to reintroduce the world of the spices' rich history, straight from the heat of Kerala - southern India," Aby told Nub News.

"Our goal is to infuse the essence of Kerala - the land of spices - into global palates.

"People just think of Indian food as curries and rice, that is not what we are doing.

"We are bringing a menu that is far beyond that - putting our own spin on Western dishes, and offering something very unique.

"We want our menu to tell a story."

The trio said their ambitions are shown in one of the dishes 'Kumarakom to Cornwall' - a spice-infused sea bass, which brings both a South Asian twist and some English seaside charm.

Other dishes will soon include the Cassava Lasagna - Cassava, cheese, and spice-infused roasted beef.

"Fusion Clan is bringing you flavours of South India entwined with European cuisine to surprise your taste buds like never before," Aby added.

"You will experience Indian flavours in a way you would never think of.

"If you fancy a flavourful journey that goes beyond borders and celebrates the rich culinary tapestry of Kerala, come down to Fusion Clan."

The menu has been crafted by Joshi, who has over 20 years of experience as a chef in the UK.

He, Aby - a care home manager - and Thomas - a mechanical engineer, businessman and film producer - first took over the former Pickled Crab restaurant in October and have spent the past few months getting it ready to open.

"We had a chat after Covid and we wanted to do something together," Aby explained.

"We looked at some places in Stratford, but they weren't quite right.

"But then we came across the unit in Smith Street and it was perfect."

Fusion Clan has also announced a Valentine's Week special menu - a five-course experience for £39.65 per person, running from February 8 to 14.

The trio are also working on a lunch menu, which they hope to bring in the coming weeks, before also rolling out a takeaway menu in February.

And having been open now for just over a week, Aby said they have already been welcomed into the town.

"It is really nice to see how the local businesses in Warwick support each other," he said.

"We have been visited by owners of local bars and restaurants.

"It is really nice, such a lovely place.

"And we have had a lot of good feedback already, people like what we are trying to achieve."
