MP wishes Warwick students good luck on A-Level results day
The town's MP has wished good luck to Warwick students receiving their A-Level results today (August 18).
With students taking exams in person for the first time since 2019, grades have been purposefully lowered from the past two years.
Despite this more than 425,000 students have been given places at university - the second highest number recorded by UCAS.
And MP for Warwick and Leamington Matt Western has wished young people in Warwick and Leamington, Whitnash and villages "every success receiving their results today".
"This will be one of the most nerve-wracking yet hopefully rewarding days of your life. Studying for A-levels, BTECs and the new T-levels will have helped you realise your dream," he said.
"You have come through unprecedented years of disruption and on your behalf may I acknowledge all the work of so many dedicated teaching staffs who have done so much to deliver the best quality education during the pandemic.
"But today is, of course, about you. You should be so proud of what you achieve given the difficult circumstances of the last three years.
"Whether you got the results you deserve or you fell just short, there are so many options - and your success is never defined by one set of exam results.
"Whatever you do, going to university, to college, into apprenticeships or straight into the world of full-time work, this is such an important moment in your lives.
"But whatever your next move, I wish you the best of luck – and please know that support is available.
"As ever, please get in touch if there are particular issues, good news or anything worth raising with me. Email me on [email protected]"
