Forty locals have objected to plans to build 20 new flats in Warwick.

Sunkari Ltd has applied for planning permission for the one-bedroom apartments on Nelson Lane.

If approved, the flats would be split across two buildings.

But Warwick locals have been quick to object to the application, raising a variety of concerns with the plans.

Stephanie Booth wrote: "The proposed tall buildings will have a direct line of sight into the rear windows and private gardens of the homes along Cliffe Way.

"This represents a significant and unacceptable loss of privacy for existing residents, who currently enjoy a reasonable level of seclusion.

"The height, proximity, and orientation of the proposed buildings will allow occupants to overlook living spaces and gardens, which is contrary to the principles of good design."

Steve Green added: "The development is far too high and too close to the boundary, overlooking my garden, affecting our privacy, there's not enough parking and traffic is already horrendous on Nelson Lane.

"Cliffe Way is used as a cut through to avoid Nelson Lane.

"Parking is already difficult for residents of Cliffe Way."

Meanwhile, Michael Owen commented: "Our right to privacy shall be severely impacted by the sheer size of these buildings and the very close proximity to our property and this is a very reasonable cause to raise an objection.

"I am not alone in these concerns and know that many more objections shall be raised over the next few days.

"If the buildings were two storey in height I would still object due to lack of privacy; but three storey buildings is ridiculous."

In its application, Sunkari states the location of the flats is suitable given the local transport links.

It also says building the flats across two buildings would reduce massing.

"The proposed design delivers a contemporary yet contextual addition to Nelson Lane," plans stated.

"The scheme has been designed to form an efficient re-use of the site, to integrate this with the immediate context and provide a transition between the residential areas to the west and the commercial elements to the east."
