Local shopping park welcomes new B&Q in Homebase’s former space

The new B&Q store in Leamington Spa opened its doors today, after the DIY retailer bought the Homebase store on Myton Road as part of a £2.5 million deal to buy five of the closing-down stores.
The new store, located on Myton Road, CV31 3NY, is split over two levels with a mezzanine floor.

It employed 43 people, 26 of whom transferred over from Homebase.
In addition to the Myton Road site, Altrincham in Greater Manchester, Basingstoke in Hampshire, Biggleswade in Bedfordshire, and Worcester in Worcestershire were included in the major deal.
As well as Click + Collect, the new B&Q has a timber cutting service, key cutting service, paint mixing, bathroom showroom, kitchen showroom, and Rug Doctor hire.

During the deal, Graham Bell, CEO, B&Q, said: "We're delighted to be buying these five stores, bringing a total of eight additional sites to our fantastic store network in the UK and Ireland.
"We're determined to give home improvers the choice and convenience they deserve, and to transform the home improvement stores in these locations to fulfil that need.
"It's a great way to be starting 2025!
"We look forward to swiftly concluding these purchases and converting the stores to the B&Q brand and offer, and to welcoming our new customers to the stores and new colleagues to the B&Q family."

A closing-down sale also took place at the Homebase store at Leamington Shopping Park.
Hilco, owner of the DIY retailer, announced in November that administrators had been appointed for the company and 70 UK stores had been sold to the owner of The Range.
