Labour has retained its seats on both Warwick Town Council and Warwick District Council, following yesterday's by-election.

Cora-Laine Moynihan has been chosen as the new representative for Warwick All Saints & Woodloes at the town council, following the resignation of Labour's Raj Kang for "personal reasons".

Meanwhile at the district level, Claire Wightman will replace Mr Kang.

The results mean Labour retain their 11 seats at WTC, and remain the second largest party at the district council - also with 11.

Warwick All Saints & Woodloes district results:

  • Claire Wightman (Lab) - 961
  • Jody Tracey (Cons) - 687
  • Laurence Byrne (Lib Dem) - 183

Warwick All Saints & Woodloes town results:

  • Cora-Laine Moynihan (Lab) - 648
  • Moira-Ann Grainger (Con) - 533
  • Samuel Jones (Green) - 458
  • Laurence Byrne (Lib Dem) - 77

In both elections the turnout was just 25 per cent.

The political make up at the district council remains as it was before, with the Greens the largest party with 14 seats, followed by Labour (11), the Liberal Democrats with 10, leaving six Conservatives and three councillors for Whitnash Residents Association.
