A detached home of "little design merit" could be demolished to make way for a new, modern home in Barford, if plans are signed off by the district council.

J & C Developments (Midlands) Limited has applied for planning permission to demolish a 60-year-old home on Dugard Place, to replace it with another four-bed home.

The application submitted to Warwick District Council says the home currently sits on a "larger than average sized plot" and adds that a lot of the neighbouring homes have also recently been modernised.

"The proposed building is of a modern aesthetic which improves visually from the existing dwelling which is in poor condition, and of little design merit," the application said.

"The new dwelling respects its surroundings in regard to context, environment and density.

"The scale and layout of the proposed dwelling has been carefully and thoughtfully developed in order to achieve a complimentary and harmonious relationship with its neighbours."
