A number of historic buildings in and around Warwick will be open to the public over the next few weeks as part of a nationwide festival celebrating hidden gems.
More than 4,500 venues, activities and events will welcome visitors this September as Heritage Open Days (HODs) returns for 2022.
In Warwick, residents will be able to visit St Paul's Church, St Nicholas Church, and St Mary's Church as part of the nationwide festival celebrating the country's history and culture.
Dating back to 1695, Alderson House will also be open to visitors. Once the home of Lord and Lady Ilkeston, it is now a wedding venue and the meeting place for the Freemasons of Warwick.
Guided tours will also be available at Guys Cliffe.
And the restored Victorian detached gardens with summer houses at Hill Close Gardens will also be welcoming visitors.
Organised by the National Trust, supported by players of People's Postcode Lottery and run by thousands of local organisations and volunteers, the event will run from Friday, September 9 to Sunday, September 18.
The different venues will open at varying times and days across the festival.
The chair of Warwick District Council, Cllr Mini Mangat commented: “It’s great to see Heritage Open Days back at full strength, giving local residents the chance to discover a wealth of local history on their doorstep and it’s all for free!
"I would like to thank the many volunteers who work so hard to make this very special event possible.”
Full opening times can be found on the HOD website here.
