Appointments are being impacted at Warwick medical centres due to a international IT issue.

In a notice to patients Chase Meadow Medical Centre said it is unable to access patient medical records or process prescriptions.

Telephone appointments are also being cancelled and no new appointments can be booked.

Face to face appointments are still running.

Services at Priory Medical Centre are also being impacted.

The announcement comes as a major IT outage caused by Cyber-secruity firm Crowdstrike updating its antivirus software has caused havoc for computer systems across the globe.

"We are working to get this sorted as soon as we can," Chase Meadow said in a statement.

"However, at the moment, we are unable to book any new appointments, either for today or for future days.

"We are also unable to fulfil any telephone appointments already booked, process electronic consultations, issue repeat prescriptions, access test results, or answer most administrative queries.

"If you already have a face-to-face appointment booked at the practice today, please attend as normal.

"We will update you as soon as this is resolved, and we are very sorry to anyone affected by this."

Meanwhile Priory Medical Centre said: "Due to ongoing Windows issues affecting IT worldwide, we are currently experiencing a global service outage affecting our systems. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding.

"Unfortunately our EMIS Clinical System is down at present due to a National issue."
