Fire crews responded to an "unusual" call and rescued a pheasant stuck in Hatton locks on Sunday (December 5).

Firefighters received a call at 3.30pm and rushed to save the bird.

The pheasant was stuck under the doors to the lock which was partially full.

Crews wearing water rescue equipment managed to rescue the bird.

"Just before 3.30pm we were mobilised to reports of a pheasant stuck in a partially full canal lock at Hatton Locks. The bird had got itself under the lock's doors and could not get out.
