Final removal of traffic lights on busy Hatton road pushed back
The county council has apologised to Hatton residents as the temporary traffic lights on Birmingham Road will now not be moved until next week.
Contractor McPhillips was due to remove the signals at the end of this week, as months of roadworks next to the Union View housing development come to an end.
But due to the snow and cold temperatures this week, this has now been pushed back until Tuesday 26 November.
"The contractor, McPhillips, has confirmed that the traffic lights will not be removed in the afternoon of Friday 22 November due to bad weather on Tuesday 19 November, and freezing temperatures forecast the following two nights," a Warwickshire County Council statement said.
"Works to erect a new traffic sign in the southern verge, have been postponed and will instead be erected on Monday 25 November.
"The area will then be reinstated either on Monday 25 or Tuesday 26 November, depending on the time the sign will be completed.
"The traffic lights will now be permanently removed in the afternoon of Tuesday 26 November.
"The removal might be on the 25 of November depending on the time the sign will be completed. Please bear in mind that this is dependent on not encountering unforeseen conditions or being hindered by exceptionally bad weather."
New fences are also being installed around the Taylor Wimpey estate, but this will continue without the need for traffic lights.
Night closures were in place along the road in October.
Works to create a new right turn lane and crossing at the 150-house estate started in autumn 2023 and were due to last 11 months.
The traffic lights have led to lengthy delays for motorists over the last year.
"Thank you again for all your patience and understanding throughout this project," the statement added.
