A family run, Indian Bistro is celebrating its first anniversary in Warwick this month.

To mark the occasion, Rangoli, which gets its name from the Indian art form adopting intricate colours and patterns, will be hosting an event this Saturday (18 April).

The bistro, which is located in the heart of Warwick on Castle Street, has also been offering 10 percent off menu items for diners this week.

Owner of the bistro Nina, trained as a chef following in the footsteps of her father, who also worked in the industry.

Speaking to Nub News Nina shared: "My father was a chef and so, growing up around him and watching him cook, I was always very inspired by that.

"Initially I took a different route (to the industry) but I think my heart sort of led me back to it and what I have always wanted to do."

Nina added that growing up around food and cooking led her to follow a similar route - always wanting to open her own restaurant, but never feeling it was quite the 'right time.'

But, when the bistro's current location on Castle Street, became available, Nina said she knew it was the right moment to pursue what had always been a dream.

Marking a year in business, Nina noted it has been a true learning curve, and over the year, little changes have been made to make the business as good as it can be.

"There have been some great highlights and some moments where things slow down a little bit, but it's been great as I've learned a lot in the past year" said Nina.

She continued: " I have been a chef before, but this is my first solo venture and so it's kind of been like a crash course of learning how to run a business."

Sharing a few menu highlights, Nina said that popular items include Manchurian lollipops and vegetarian pakoras.

While there haven't been any major changes, the business has introduced the pulled beef brisket dish, 'which people are absolutely loving.'

Also, weekly specials, with the majority of the menu staying the same.
